Obverse: Features the "Third Portrait" of Queen Elizabeth II by Dora de Pédery-Hunt. The Queen is shown wearing the George IV State Diadem and a necklace. The full inscription reads ELIZABETH II D. G. REGINA. 25 CENTS Reverse: Designed by John Jaciw, the coin features a model society, represented by prosperous farms, innovative cities, rapid and safe transportation and an eye toward space. The full inscription reads INGENUITY • INGÉNIOSITÉ CANADA 2000. Struck at the Royal Canadian Mint in both Ottawa and Winnipeg. The 2000 "Ingenuity" quarter is a standout release from the second year of the Millennium program. While the 1999 series honored the past, the 2000 series focused on the future and the intangible qualities that define the Canadian character as the country moved into the 21st century. The "Ingenuity" coin was one of twelve thematic designs selected from thousands of entries submitted by Canadians. It celebrates the country's history of innovation, from the discovery of insulin to the development of the Canadarm. This was one of the final years the Royal Canadian Mint used a 100% nickel composition for circulation quarters.
