The inscription reads HALF PENNY with the date 1920 in the exergue at the bottom. he 1920 United Kingdom halfpenny marks a period of significant economic transition following the Great War. Struck in the tenth year of King George V’s reign, this bronze issue remains a favorite for collectors due to its classic design and the historical context of the burgeoning "Roaring Twenties" in Britain. By 1920, the Royal Mint had fully standardized the "Low Tide" reverse design. This year saw a massive mintage of over 46 million pieces, as the post-war economy required a high volume of small change for daily commerce and the expanding transit systems. The 1920 halfpenny witnessed a change in bronze composition shortly after (in 1923) to a slightly harder alloy to improve wear resistance. The 1920 issue still retains the traditional high-copper "look" favored by many numismatists. Dimensions: Bronze 25.5 mm. 5.7 g. Pickup category timeslot {A}
