Obverse: Features the Bailiwick of Guernsey Seal, designed by Arnold Machin. The seal depicts a shield with three lions (lions passant guardant) with a sprig of leaves at the top. The inscription reads S'BALLIVIE INSVLE DE GVERNEREVE around the seal, with BAILIWICK OF GUERNSEY and the date 1979 surrounding it. Reverse: Features a Guernsey Double Lily (Amaryllis Belladonna), a flower that has become synonymous with the island's floral industry. The design is by Christopher Ironside. The inscription reads NEW PENCE at the top and the denomination 2 at the bottom. This Channel Islands 1979 Guernsey Two Pence (2p) coin is a distinct issue from the Bailiwick of Guernsey, a British Crown Dependency.
