The national motto LIBERTE · EGALITE · FRATERNITE is inscribed around the rim. The date 1873 sits at the bottom, flanked by the mint marks. The 1873 French 10 centimes coin is a notable issue from the early years of the Third Republic, featuring the "Ceres" design. This large bronze coin was part of the transition period following the collapse of the Second Empire and the return to republican iconography. In 1873, France was paying off the massive war indemnity to Prussia and stabilizing its new republican government. Dimensions: Bronze. 30 mm. 10 g. (A substantial, heavy coin, similar in size to a classic British penny). Pickup category timeslot {A}
