Obverse: Features Center hole within crowned wreath. Lettering: ΒΑΣΙΛΕΙΟΝ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ ("Kingdom of Greece") with date 1954 Reverse: Features Wheat ears left and denomination right of the centre hole. Lettering: 5 ΛΕΠΤΑ ("Five Lepta") The 1954 Greece 5 Lepta is an iconic small-denomination issue from the post-war "New Drachma" series. Struck in lightweight aluminum, it is instantly recognizable to collectors due to its central hole and its departure from the more complex heraldic designs found on larger denominations of the same era. It was struck in Bern, Switzerland. Following the 1954 currency reform, these aluminum coins were introduced to facilitate small-scale commerce.
