At this time, the design featured 11 ribbons wrapped around the wheat stalks, representing the 11 Soviet Republics that formed the Union in 1938. The abbreviation CCCP (SSSR) is written in a semi-circle at the bottom. Reverse: Features the large numeral 5 in the center, with the word КОПЕЕК (Kopecks) below it. The date 1938 is inscribed at the bottom. The central denomination is framed by two stalks of wheat that cross at the bottom, forming a wreath that encircles the text.
