Obverse: Features the Small Imperial Eagle (Reichsadler) of the German Empire. The eagle is depicted with the Hohenzollern shield on its breast and is surrounded by the chain of the Order of the Black Eagle. The mint mark A (Berlin) is positioned at the very bottom Reverse: Displays the large numeral 10 in the center, signifying the denomination. Above the numeral is the word PFENNIG. The inscription DEUTSCHES REICH 1914 is positioned around the rim above. The entire design is enclosed within a dotted border. This Germany 1914 A Ten Pfennig Coin was struck during the final year of peacetime production before the German Empire fully transitioned to emergency wartime materials. Struck at the Berlin Mint (Mintmark A), this coin represents the high-quality cupro-nickel standard used during the reign of Kaiser Wilhelm II, just as World War I was beginning to alter the European economic landscape. The 1914 A is historically significant as it was one of the last 10 Pfennig issues struck in cupro-nickel before the German government switched to iron and zinc to conserve nickel for the war effort.
