Obverse: features the small Imperial Eagle (Reichsadler), the heraldic symbol of the German Empire. The eagle bears the Prussian shield on its chest and is adorned with the collar of the Order of the Black Eagle. Reverse: Displays a large numeral "10" in the center. Below the numeral is the word PFENNIG. Below the numeral is the inscription DEUTSCHES REICH, and the date 1912. The 1912 Ten Pfennig coin is a classic pre-war issue from the German Empire. It belongs to the cupro-nickel series (1890–1916). Unlike the zinc or iron emergency coins of the later war years, this coin was intended to be durable and maintain its luster in circulation.
