The Egypt 2019 Bimetallic One Pound coin is part of Egypt's "2019 Achievements" series. It is a circulating commemorative coin that celebrates the Zohr Gas Field, a massive offshore discovery in the Mediterranean Sea that turned Egypt into a major regional energy player. With 850 billion cubic meters of recoverable gas, it is the world's largest hydrocarbon deposit discovered in 2015. It was minted by the Egyptian Mint Authority in Cairo. While bimetallic pounds are common in Egypt, the "Achievement" series is often pulled out of circulation by locals and collectors because of the interesting reverse designs.
