One Vintage 1900s Germany Floral Postcard, used, showing bouquets of red and white flowers. No message. This coloured postcard does not indicate a publisher, but is marked multilingually "Postkarte - Carte Postale - Weltpostverien - Union postale universelle - Post Card - Korrespondenzkarte - Levelezo Lap -- Karta Korrespondencyjna. Korrespondencni Listnik - Briefkaart - Dopisnice - Cartolina Postale - Brevkort - Brefkort - Tarjeta Postale." Not Stamped. Not Postmarked. Not postally used. However, "remnants of mounting" (glue marks on sides of the reverse) suggests it was pasted into a scrapbook and later removed. The extensive list of languages (from the Polish Karta Korrespondencyjna to the Hungarian Levelezo Lap) identifies this as a card compliant with the Universal Postal Union (UPU). Because the headers were so inclusive, a single printing run in Germany or Austria could be distributed across Europe and the British Empire without needing localized translation. The "Weltpostverein" Mark is the German term for the Universal Postal Union, and thus a strong indicator that the card was likely printed in Leipzig or Dresden, which were the world's leading centers for high-end lithography at the time. In the early 1900s, floral arrangements were the "generic" stock of the postcard trade, but they carried significant meaning in the Language of Flowers.
