Three Vintage 1920s "Penshurst" UK Postcards, each showing aspects of Penshurst Place, built in 1341, a rare survival of a 14th-century fortified manor house that has been the seat of the Sidney family (Earls of Leicester and Viscounts De L'Isle) for over 460 years. - (1) First, a general view of Penshurst Place showing the "Crenellated" exterior, and the Medieval and Tudor architecture", with the caption "Penshurst Place"; (2) The Baron's Hall, the "Crown Jewel" of Penshurst, one of the most complete 14th-century halls in existence, featuring a central hearth and an original chestnut roof, with caption "Barons's Hall, Entrance to the State Rooms, Penshurst Place"; (3) Queen Elizabeth's Drawing Room (Named for Queen Elizabeth I, who was a frequent guest at the Sidneys, who were high-ranking courtiers), famous for its tapestries and 16th-century furniture, with caption "Queen Elizabeth's Drawing Rooms, Penshurst Place". All three of these Vintage UK postcards, are used, and display a logo showing a well and caption "The Wells Series" and publisher indicated as "Produced by H.H. Camburn, Tunbridge Wells, for C. D. Eagleton, Post Office, Penshurst". All three never postally used, but each bears the ink notation on reverse: "Penshurst Place, Kent". Herbert H. Camburn was a renowned Tunbridge Wells photographer who specialized in the "Garden of England" (Kent). The "Wells" logo is a punning reference to his home base of Tunbridge Wells.
