Lot #826: Vintage 1900s Stirling, Scotland UK Postcard (Gottschalk, Dreyfuss & Davis Co. Ltd.) - "Cambuskenneth Abbey" - "Printed in Bavaria"

Vintage 1900s Stirling, Scotland UK Postcard, unused, showing crenallated tower with with the caption "Cambuskenneth Abbey, Tomb of James III, Stirling" and the publisher indicated as "The Star series - G. D. and D., London" and place of manufacture as "Printed in Bavaria". Also instruction: "Communications here. Inland only." No Stamp. Never postally used. No message. The indicated publisher "G.D. & D." is Gottschalk, Dreyfuss & Davis Co. Ltd., a major firm that operated the "Star Series" brand. Based in London with deep roots in the continental printing industry, this firm was one of the most prolific "Golden Age" publishers. G.D. & D. maintained a sophisticated production pipeline through Bavaria, which, as noted on the card, was the premier source for high-quality lithography. Their "Star Series" is a benchmark for the era's clarity. This postcard documents a site of immense significance to the Scottish Crown, specifically relating to the House of Stewart.
