Vintage 1930s USA "AZO Real Photograph" Postcard, unused, showing drawing of elegant old brick building, with caption "The Georgian Tea Room in the Old Pink House. 23 Abercorn Street, Savannah, Georgia". White outer border. The publisher is indicated (twice) as "Foltz Studio, Savannah, Ga." with a stamp box composed of "AZO" four times, with square in each corner. No Stamp. Never postally used. No message. Foltz Studio was the preeminent photographic house in Savannah during the early 20th century. While the image is a drawing, it is printed on Silver Gelatin photographic paper. This gives the card the unmistakable "Real Photo" weight and sheen. By utilizing the AZO Real Photo process to reproduce a drawing rather than a photograph, the publisher created a "Graphic Heritage" card that emphasizes the building’s historic lines over its modern surroundings. The AZO stamp box with squares in all four corners is a precise diagnostic tool. This specific design was used by Eastman Kodak for their professional photographic paper between 1924 and 1949. Given the font and style, a date in the 1930s is most likely. The subject of this card is one of Savannah’s most iconic structures: the "The Old Pink House", also known as Habersham House, located at 23 Abercorn Street. Built in 1771 for James Habersham Jr., it is a rare surviving example of Georgian architecture in the South. Originally built of white brick, the native red clay bled through the plaster, creating the distinctive pink hue. The caption identifies it as "The Georgian Tea Room." This reflects the building's 1930s phase when many Southern mansions were converted into refined commercial spaces to survive the economic pressures of the era. The use of AZO Real Photo Paper Stock (Squares in 4 corners) thus dates this card to the Interwar / Depression Era (c. 1924–1939) Dimensions: 9 mm x 14 mm Pickup category timeslot {A}
