Bronze sculpture of an African Cape Buffalo by Canadian wildlife artist Rick Taylor. Mounted on a hardwood base. Signed and numbered 5 of a limited edition of 36, dated 1991. Taylor is known for his dynamic portrayals of African big game and has created several sculptures featuring the Cape Buffalo. A smaller similar version of this, titled Mbogo, was also produced. The African Cape Buffalo is recognized as one of the largest and most dangerous of all African big game.

1935-55 Dept Lands &#38; Forests in Nova Scotia Best All-Round Guide 28&#34; Tall Trophy

This bronze sculpture by Canadian wildlife artist Rick Taylor, titled The Traditional Way, depicts an African hunting scene. Created in 1989, it is signed by the artist and numbered 12 of a limited edition of 24. Scene of an African man poling a skiff carrying a freshly hunted Kudu antelope, a species native to sub-Saharan Africa. Rich in detail and cultural narrative, the sculpture captures the essence of traditional hunting methods and African wildlife. The bronze is mounted on a wooden base and is accompanied by a larger, 39-inch-tall freestanding base. For ease of transport and display, the sculpture and stand are designed as two separate pieces. The sculpture itself is in excellent condition; the tall display base shows some surface scuffing. Dimensions (bronze on wooden base): 15 in. high  48 in. long  14 in. wide

These items were for Provincial or Village use and were exported during the 17th and 18th centuries as ballast in sailing ships.
