Marta Scythes is an illustrator and educator. Besides the Up North, Wild City and Wild Woods guides, her beautiful pencil-and-ink illustrations have been featured in McClelland & Stewart’s Canadian Encyclopedia, Harrowsmith magazine, and the Trans Canada Trail Guides for Canadian Geographic.

Marta has been teaching anatomical drawing, portraiture and watercolour at St. Lawrence College, Southampton Art School, Queen’s University and the Haliburton School of Art for many years. She is also an outdoor recreation instructor.

Born and raised in Toronto, Marta graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Queens University and now lives in Newburgh, Ontario.
