Fürstenberg Porcelain "Miniature Wine Jug from the Vineyard Series" • The Fürstenberg factory in Germany (formerly West Germany). • It was founded in 1747, the Fürstenberg is Germany's second-oldest porcelain producer still operating on its original site in Lower Saxony. It was established by Duke Charles I of Brunswick- Wolfenbüttel, who aimed to produce "white gold" to rival the prestigious Meissen works. • This miniature jug was made between 1950 and 1970. • The "Vineyard" series is known for its high-relief, or "high-build," sculptural quality. These figures have soft, edges and smooth transitions characteristic of the original master molds. • The "curious centre knob" on the base is a common manufacturing feature in slip-cast porcelain. • Fürstenberg, often used gold or blue foil stickers instead of permanent underglaze stamps for certain lines of giftware, so smaller pieces often do n to have the stamped mark. • In excellent condition, no breaks or cracks, or chips.
