Michael Donaldson - 2 Flower Candle Holders • Michael Donaldson has been blowing glass since 1991. He was married to the late glass artist Susan Glass, and together with their son, they operated The Glass Kingdom Studio is located in Seattle, Wash. • Both these pieces are dated (5-14-2001), and inscribed on labels at the back. • Donaldson was deeply involved with the Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle, a renowned institution for glass education. He both practiced his craft and exhibited his work there during the early 2000's. • His work is known for its "free-form" organic shapes, often featuring the vibrant swirls of color seen in your piece. • Both flowers have five "pulled" petals made of mixed varied colors. While the "centres" vary slightly in style they are also "pulled" glass forms. • The "orange flower is in perfect condition, no breaks, cracks, or chips. The "Purple Flower" has a chip on the centre section.
