Jane Murray-Smith - Wood Fired Lantern Form • This piece was made by Jane Murray- Smith a BC potter who operates "Dragonfly Pottery" in Lantzville on Vancouver Island. • She took her first clay course at the Nanaimo Pottery Co-op in 1990. She furthered her technical skills through the Arrowsmith Potters Guild in Parksville and attended the Metchosin Summer School of the Arts. • Mentorship: She credits mentors Algis Bubnys, and Linda Reid at the Arrowsmith Guild for giving her the confidence to pursue pottery full-time. • This lantern was inspired by traditional Japanese aesthetics with the cut out bamboo design. • It is made with a cone 10 stoneware clay, has been altered for to an oval form, and has a Shino glaze, and was fired in a wood kiln. • In excellent condition, no breaks, cracks, or chips.
