Raku Bowl - Kevin Wright of Braemar Pottery Studio • It is not clear where Kevin Wright learned his craft, but was a potter for over 30 years. • The studio was based in Coombs and Qualicum Beach, BC., but the studio was situated in Coombs, BC, near the "Goats on the Roof" Old Country Market. • The Braemar Pottery studio opened in the late 1980's, but closed around 2010. • Raku is a "fast fifing technique". Wright used his gas kiln for this technique. • When the pieces were glowing red-hot, they were removed, and placed into metal containers filled with combustible materials like newspaper, sawdust, or dried leaves. A quick cool bringing out the colours or in this case the "carbon" filling the crackling cooling glaze. • In excellent condition, no breaks or cracks, or chips.
