Teresa Wyss - "Sgraffito Wheat" Designed Mug • Teresa Wyss's journey with pottery began more than 35 years ago in high school, where her art teacher first introduced her to working with clay. • She is primarily self-taught through years of independent practice and experimentation. • Teresa Wyss is a Calgary-based ceramic artist specializing in wheel- thrown, hand-carved porcelain and stoneware pottery. • The "Sgraffito" method involves applying a layer of coloured slip to the surface, and then carving through it to reveal the contrasting colour of the clay underneath. • This is a white stoneware, fired to cone 6 in an electric kiln. .
