Modern Studio Glass Bowl/Vase North American or European Made • This piece is not signed, but has a pontil mark, and shows where the bowl and "stem" were separated. Because of this, the vase/bowl was not made in China, as the base would have been finished differently. • Numerous independent glass studios in the United States, Canada, and Europe produce similar flared bowls with "ribbon" or "feather" swirls. • This bowl/vase can best described as a hand-blown "pulled drape" or "ribbon swirl" in design. Its form and pattern utilize classic Venetian-style techniques often found in high-quality studio glass. • This pattern is achieved through a "raking" technique where a tool is pulled through molten cobalt blue glass trails to create these vertical, wave-like "veins" "feathers". • The form of the bowl/vase is asymmetrical. • In excellent condition, no breaks, chips or bruises.
