Lot #12: Vintage S. Rioleva Stunning Capodimonte Large Basket of Roses--20th Century Piece--Made in Italy

Here we have a stunning piece. A very large basket of a Capodimonte bouquet of roses in a basket. The name of the maker (S. Rioleva) and the place of manufacture (Made in Italy) is stamped on the bottom of the basket. Rioleva was known for producing delicate, hand-sculpted floral baskets of porcelain flower arrangments in the 1950's and 1960's. Also the tradition marks of Capodimonte, the "N" and the crown, are stamped on the bottom of the basket. The "N" stands for Naples, the city where the royal factory was located and the crown stands for the Bourbon Royal Family, who funded the factory. The fact that the crown has seven points means this is a 20th Century piece as opposed to a five-pointed crown, which could signify an earlier 18th century antique piece. As with most Capodimonte, especially one of this intricacy, there is some damage and probably more that I haven't seen. There is a big broken rose petal which I have photographed in one of the pictures. The picture next to it shows a rose with a chip out of it. But I just couldn't resist offering this Capodimonte piece of such complexity and detail.
