Lot #82: Two Early Original & Psychedelic Family Dog, Avalon Ballroom, Fillmore Era, Rock Concert Posters, FD-62 Quicksilver; FD-83 Charlatans 1967

Here is a lot of two vintage and original psychedelic rock concert posters from the Fillmore Era. Here is what you get: FD-62-OP-1--"Sutters Mill," Number 62 in the Family Dog series (poster is approximately 14" x 20") from a concert performed by Quicksilver Messenger Service and Country Joe and the Fish held in the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco on 5/19-21/1967. The poster was created by the famed rock poster artist Rick Griffin (1944-1991) and a member of the Big Five rock poster artists. The poster shows "The Discovery of Gold at Sutters Mill" and portrays a 49er panning for gold on the corner of Sutter and Van Ness! According to the guidelines of Eric King's famous reference book, this is a first printing of the poster although there are other variants. The poster is in near mint condition. FD-83-OP-1--"Sky Web," Number 83 in the Family Dog series (the poster is approximately 14" x 20") from a concert performed by The Charlatans and Buddy Guy on 9/22-24/1967. The poster was created by the rock poster artist Bob Fried (1937-1975). This is an original FIRST PRINT poster (according to the guidelines of Eric King's famous reference book) and is in NEAR MINT condition. There was a later printing of this poster but the only difference is the white border on the original does NOT fluoresce under a black light. This poster is indeed a first printing These posters have been stored flat for decades. Located upstairs.
