A burst of lively movement. An exemplary gift of artistry, imagination and remarkable skill exhibited here. Colored ink wash work, on paper, framed under glass. An ink wash painting (水墨畫, shuǐmòhuà) is a traditional Chinese art form merging calligraphy with painting, using black ink in varying concentrations to create monochrome, expressive landscapes or subjects on paper/silk (source: wikipedia.) Depicted here, numerous cranes gliding above and resting on pine trees - both symbolizing longevity and peace.  The painting includes calligraphy with the Chinese characters "TE E7*", which translates to "A Hundred Cranes Presenting Auspiciousness". 
Based on our information, origin ,and place of purchase date (all anecdotal) we believe this piece to be very early, but of course  we have not seen out of frame or had it formally authenticated. It needs some care as minor fading and buckling are starting, but still carefully preserved under glass and presented in a traditional Chinese style frame.

Large Framed Chinese Ink Drawing

Ahhh, the cocoon comfort of a canopy bed!   Most likely sourced from India, and inspired by the palatial architecture of Gujarat, each of these specific, intricately designed beds is one of a kind/custom. Probably crafted from solid neem hardwood (a type of mahogany). The 12-Arch Headboard features delicate carving around each arch, topped with peacock sconces and geometric/floral patterns.  With a teak wood paneled roof, unique whimsical apron scrollwork featuring fanciful animal-like carvings, and intricately carved pillars and footboard.

THE BED

A most unusual Chinese export three-panel coromandel screen featuring a courtyard scene of merriment  and enrichment - arts, music, games and courtyard joy on one side, and floral and natural bird scenery with foliage on the reverse. While usually laquered in black before incising, this screen has been coated in a glossy white and then using the kuan cai (款彩; literally &#34;incised colors&#34;) technique, the incisions were meticulously painted with deep hues of burgundy, forest greens, and gray shades. The bottom of each &#34;front&#34; panel is decorated with potted plants and a serpentine border. The back,  by a simple lotus flower border.  Supported by straight legs ending with brass clad feet. Minor wear as noted - could use new hinges, but in fair shape considering age and wear.  Heavy. Bring help.  First floor.

Folding Three-Panel Chinese Wood Screen

U.S. Army Engineer Aviation units played a critical role in the Southeast Pacific theater during WWII. They were able to construct airfields (sometimes in as little as 6 days) and support bases in support of land-based aircraft, leaving carrier-based aircraft dedicated to protecting naval assets. As General Douglas MacArthur said, &#34;This is an air and amphibious war; because of the nature of air and amphibious operations, it is distinctly an engineer&#39;s war.&#34; The 863rd EAB, formed in 1942, constructed and maintained runways in New Guinea, built bridges and other infrastructure in the Philippines, and also provided combat support to infantry forces. The obstacles were massive: heat, tropical diseases, terrain, lack of roads and docks, not to mention the necessity of performing heavy construction under fire, as in the construction of piers in Manila while under Japanese attack. This album contains several hundred photographs, documenting the work and also daily life for the crewmen. (Note Gary Cooper and other Hollywood figures of the day paying visits.) We believe these albums were produced for those who served in the EABs, and were specific to each battalion. Overall good collection, and a true collector&#39;s item.

WWII Photo Album, 863rd Engineer Aviation Battalion

He&#39;s definitely got his eye on someone - maybe you?  We had a hard time wrangling this cherub into place for photography - he moves fast and wants to be surveying the scene from far above where he was originally stationed before we took him down, so apologies for the less than perfect photos that resulted as we tried to capture him head-on! He&#39;s bronze, and heavy, with a plan of action, lots of movement, perfect proportions, a detailed open wing span, and an adorable demeanor.  And as you can see from his feet, he originally came affixed to a base of some sort, but make no mistake - there&#39;s no containing this character when he&#39;s on a mission.

Cupid

Offered here, a pair of the &#34;yokeback,&#34; or more formally, &#34;official’s hat chairs.&#34; The name reflects the shape of the sculpted crest-rail, which appears like an official’s &#34;winged&#34; hat. The Chinese term &#34;chair with four protruding ends&#34; (sichutou yizi) describes the extended crest-rail and handgrips, which here are finished like calligraphic brushstrokes with rounded ends. These chairs are perhaps foremost amongst the various traditional Ming-style chair forms, exhibiting dignity and poise. It is a formal chair, and frequently appears in hierarchical seating arrangements. In the West, this type of chair is commonly called a &#34;yokeback&#34; because its top rail looks like a yoke for an ox. 
The chairs features curved back splats and brass strapping on the arms, crest-rails, and  joints. Mortise and tenon joints -  traditional craftsmanship for furniture making in ancient China. One arm rest needs repair, we have the piece. Condition consistent with age and use. 
This pair of armchairs was sourced by Mohr & McPherson, a well-known importer of furniture from around the world, once headquartered in Boston&#39;s South End, where a stream of decorators was a constant presence. Founders Kevin McPherson and John Mohr traveled the world to source unique furniture and decor; today, McPherson operates a web-only store.

Pair Vintage Yokeback Chinese Armchairs

This group of decoys has spent a lot of time on the water, and it shows in their desirable patina. A matched pair, with keels and glass eyes intact, and a few hints of paint remaining around the heads. And a solo swimmer, appears to be a pintail, with blue-ish beak and glass eyes, no keel, metal banding around base. A duct tape patch on one side, as shown. A highly collectible raft of ducks.

Two simple, minimally embellished matching wrought iron accent tables with lower shelf and both in need of top glass.  Both in very good shape.  An elaborate multi-armed wrought iron floor candleholder that, believe it or not, was wired for electric lighting at one point!  Can easily be used as a simple candle holder at this point. Wrought Iron Candelabra and Side Tables

After Jules Felix Coutan (French, 1848-1939), the artist best known for the &#34;Glory of Commerce&#34; sculptural grouping above the entrance to the Grand Central Terminal in NYC. Here, an Art Nouveau style bronze sculpture, 20th C., &#34;La Paix (Allegory of Peace),&#34; unsigned, on a heavy dark marble base. A gloriously winged female holds a sword atop a cornucopia of rich fruits. Her spectacular spread wings, confident demeanor, stance, and detailed drapery exude an air of satisfied determination. In fine condition with the exception of a scrape on her knee (see pic) which seems almost appropriate and intentional on her.

Coutan Statue: The Allegory of Peace

This signifiant piece is a very high-quality lithographic reproduction of a plate from the Robert Havell edition of John James Audubon&#39;s &#34;Birds of America.&#34; The volumes were self-published by Audubon in the double elephant folio size of 26.5&#34; X 39.5&#34;; this print is slightly larger. Audubon, 1785-1851, needs little introduction--his comprehensive studies of North American birds are iconic. Born in Haiti, Audubon was the illegitimate son of a sugar plantation owner and a chambermaid. Raised by his father in France, he immigrated to America as a teenager, using a false passport his father gave him, to avoid being drafted into the Napoleonic wars. His interest in nature combined with his rapidly developing skills as an artist, and with his innovative means of staging birds he had shot so as to draw them most accurately. He traveled the country, observing birds, their behavior, their surroundings, and began to create the watercolors that would eventually be collected in his monumental &#34;Birds of America.&#34; Truly monumental--each of the 453 plates was double elephant folio-sized, in order to show the birds at life size. He was obliged to raise the money himself for the publication of the 4-volume work over a period of years, which he did by selling subscriptions and paintings, to the tune of just over 2M in today&#39;s dollars. Robert Havell Jr., an artist in his own right, handled all but 10 of Audubon&#39;s 453 plates for Birds of America. A painter, printmaker, engraver, colorist, he was hired by his father, the publisher Audubon had engaged, to make the printing plates and hand-color the prints, after Audubon&#39;s originals. Havell Jr. and Audubon became friends over the course of the collaboration, and likely influenced each other as their subjects were often similar. Period oak frame, with two drill holes at each bottom corner, as shown. The print is in excellent condition.

This vintage cart looks as if it held probably a wooden bucket of sorts and served as a wheelbarrow, but the straps (one loose) indicate otherwise - maybe a seeder?  In any case a gem of a lawn ornament and a fantastic place to let your flowering vines wander! Authentic patina, rust, and wear add to the appeal.  Toss in a weathered small pitchfork as an accent piece or functional tool!

Yaz w/Willaims photo, the &#39;67 Dream Team, signed Mo Vaughn ball (&#34;The Hit Dog&#34;), Ozzie Smith too, the &#34;Wizard of Oz,&#34;  played shortstop for the San Diego Padres and St. Louis Cardinals in the MLB.  Photos & books which include  a plethora of quotes from the superstars! And Warren Edward Spahn, a 1942 leftie pitcher, played 21 seasons in the MLB and some of them with the Boston Braves. And don&#39;t get me going on THE BABE! We will conjure him up as a lost icon for eternity!

16-cubby Cabinet

Precisely constructed and detailed gaff-rigged schooner, also known as a tern schooner. These cargo ships were in use from roughly 1880 to 1920, requiring crews of up to 8, and were used especially in the coastal lumber trade. These beautiful vessels were aptly named after the Scottish word scoon, meaning to skim along the water. Ours appears to have rigging intact, and is furnished with transom and dinghy, anchor, fore and aft hatches, wheel, and bowsprit embellished with gold scrolls. The model sits in a glass case with metal base and edges, in need of a cleaning. Some water spotting to sails. You will need to bring help--this is a large item.

Three Masted Schooner Model in Glass Display Case

Beautifully crafted handmade globes from Kalifano feature semi-precious inlaid stone, with 24K gold-plated brass latitude and longitude lines. This 12&#34; globe has seas of lapis, while mother-of-pearl, turquoise, jasper, aventurine, and other hard stones represent the countries. Brushed antique silver stand, with a compass at the meeting of the tri-part footed legs. Excellent condition. Clean with rubbing alcohol and a soft cloth; do not use cleaning products.

Kalifano 12&#34; Gemstone Globe

An Afghan or Pakistani 14&#34; square low tea table still retaining much of its original hardware, paint, and charm. Fairly traditional models from the late 19th/early 20th C feature small handle-less cups (piala) and brass strapping, accents, and oriental motifs. The tables are central to the social, hospitable, and, often daily, ritual of serving green or black tea. Paired here with a woven 16&#34;stool. These low stools and chairs are very functional and are designed for the Indian sub-continent culture which involves sitting cross-legged for long periods of time. The low chair takes away the pressure from the knees. A 13&#34;W hinged wooden half circle box/bowl with tooled leather lid, clasp and handle. Two tall 22&#34;H vintage perforated brass incense burners. A small 55&#34; x33&#34; colorful wool prayer rug in fair condition - some wear, needs cleaning!  A well worn 16&#34;H copper ewer/aftafa/dallah missing its stopper, and a darling 5.5&#34; gold-lined small red enamel tea pot. And tassels, of course, always symbolic, ever-present.

Imagine holiday gatherings around this table, which can comfortably seat 10--feuds and political debates not included ;) One-piece tiger oak surface, with some evidence of use, rests on two bases, each carved and rendered in an urn-like shape, and is further supported by a lengthwise beam, itself carved in scrolling shapes. We can also see this as a unique table in a conference room, or used as a desk for your inner mogul.

Two matching spectacular teak pillars ready to grace your entrance. At 80&#34;H x 7&#34;W and with an additional 12&#34; spindle on each they&#39;re ready for a capital of your choice, these majestic columns will accommodate almost any high ceilinged house. Perhaps Indian, hand-carved with brass banding accenting each ornately detailed and turned section. 13&#34;square stone base plinth and substantial scotia which is is met by a wide brass band before the actual column ascends. Three more layers of banding separate and accentuate each section of wrapped patterns. Natural expected wear and some minor cracks to be expected with decorative items of this magnitude. Heavy and cumbersome and LONG.  Bring appropriate vehicle and help. Wear proper shoes.  Base level drive out.

A mainly unexamined large bin of advertising and other ephemera, late 1800s to mid 1900s. Highlights include one-sheet movie posters; early B & W and full-color magazine ads; sheet music; a playbill from NYC&#39;s Schubert Theater, autographed on the front cover by Stella Hanau, critic, publicity agent, supporter of experimental theater, editor for the US Dept. of Commerce, activist; a framed ad for Dexter Papers of Boston; and much more. Most in archival plastic sleeves, and in good to very good condition.

We don&#39;t know what they&#39;re up to, but a variety of figures cavort through this large original oil on mason board. A satyr feeds himself grapes with a scantily-clad trio dancing behind him, while in the deep background a pair, one of whom appears to be a faun, are entwined near a columned folly. Signed by the artist Sattersfield, and framed in a gilded distressed wooden frame. This is a large piece--bring appropriate vehicle.

Silver Starburst Mirror

Steam-bent wood and sleek metal link this single and pair of MCM chairs. The single &#34;Health&#34; chair was designed by company president Herman Sperlich, 1883 - 1962, for his workers at Ironrite Ironer Company in Michigan, and was later added to the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art. Ironrite manufactured electric ironers, and produced the chair to encourage &#34;scientifically correct ironing posture.&#34; The plywood chair features a curved back rest which can be tilted to suit, and dynamically curved legs which are bolted to the frame. Wood is in good shape with a few areas of wear, as shown; the legs and frame have significant rust. Synthetic steel wool pads can likely remove a great deal of this and allow the metal to gleam again. The stackable pair has shaped, grooved back rests, and aluminum legs. Some wear to wooden portions, as shown. From Indecasa, with original decals also indicating Made in Spain. Designed by Joan Casas i Ortinez, a principal at Indecasa. Casas i Ortinez was grounded in industrial design, and drew from ideas and materials in that world to create sleek, functional furniture with distinctive forms. Billed as office chairs, they make great dining chairs, as well.
