A United Nations of dolls and figurines, in many materials and vintages. The Pennsylvania Dutch are represented by this family, painted base metal, and the two smallest children appearing to be salt and pepper shakers, with one missing cork. A pair of porcelain Chinese children, seating while they read, still bearing original decals on the undersides, now illegible. A trio of cloth dolls includes a Roma woman made in Italy, a fur-hatted Mongol man, and a lady in a wonderful striped costume. A Chinese mudman, with a very large jar by his side. Mudmen figurines have historically been used in bonsai lanscapes, and also as temple offerings. This one is likely from Shiwan, in Guangdong province, and exhibits the classic unglazed face and hands, and green and yellow glaze hues. We show him with two porcelain China dolls, one meant to sit on a shelf, from Ceramic Arts Studio of Wisconsin, in production from 1942 until 1956. A grouping of porcelain figures include a housemaid inked "Cleaning Time" with model number and original decal in underside, from Napco Japan (National Potteries Corporation, mid 1900s). Napco based some of their figurines on designs cerated by Betty Harrington of Ceramic Arts Studio. A young man playing a flute, inked Handmade Japan on underside; plus a lady descending from her coach, with footman, driver, and two horses, unmarked. A small resin figure of a lady in a rickshaw, which is decorated with a landscape on the back of the seat. Finally, a quartet of carved figures, all looking a bit woebegone ...
