Lot #48: Estate Sterling Silver BIRKS Royal Tudor flatware A: Dinner service - 8 five-piece sets

Estate Sterling silver from BIRKS in the Tudor Royal pattern. 8 five-piece dinner sets consisting of two forks, two knives and one spoon each. This Birks silverware pattern is in the traditional English revival style and each piece is monogrammed with a stylistic M. All pieces are stamped “BIRKS STERLING” consistent with Birks production in the early-mid 20th century (1930-1940s). This pattern is substantial and has a great hand feel. Can be paired with another lot of the matching sterling silverware (dessert, specialty and serving pieces) also in this auction. This sterling flatware collection was assembled by a single owner over roughly a decade in the 1970s. Each place setting was intentionally built to maintain a consistent, matched service—resulting in a cohesive and well-balanced dining set. Dinner knives are 10” long, have hollow handle and stainless steel blade and weight of 8 is 687.7 grams. Smaller knives have the same construction but are 9” long and total weight of 8 is 573.3 grams. Dinner forks are 8” long, total weight of 8 is 537.2 grams.
