Lot #169: Antique Painted Primitive Covered & Finger Staved Sugar Pail, Bucket or Firkin

Starting bidding

$1.00

Time Remaining:

Bidding starts in 0d 4h 3m

Folk art finger staved covered sugar bucket or firkin shows no indication of a specific maker, or country of origin. Covered bucket originated from Europe, possibly Dutch or English and dates to approximately 1900-1920. The bucket is tapered and composed of pine slats with two finger staved and copper or brass tacked rings. The top is also done with a finger staved ring with a pine top. The entire piece has been hand-painted with a deep blue chalk styled paint, with some illegible lettering and/or figures that were hand-painted in red and white. Considerable age wear to the outer surfaces as seen in the photos, and consistent with age and use. Still a highly decorative and functional covered rustic wooden covered bucket or firkin. Measures 7" high MIKA: Condition as seen in photos. For questions or to arrange a viewing, email [email protected] Pickup category timeslot {A}
