Lot #13: Victorian Royal Dublin Fusiliers Grenade Cap Badge c1881-1902 Irish Regiment

Victorian Royal Dublin Fusiliers grenade cap badge dating to the regiment’s early period c.1881–1902. Large flaming grenade pattern worn on the fusilier raccoon-skin cap by other ranks. The badge displays the distinctive Irish device within the grenade body and retains its original lug fittings on the reverse. A simple wire has been passed through the lugs at some point allowing it to be worn as a brooch, but the original lugs remain intact. These Victorian fusilier grenade badges are significantly larger than later cap badges and were worn on the tall fusilier cap used by several British Army regiments of the period.
