This is a vintage collector's binder of "Golden Replicas of United States Stamps" from 1984 to 1985, produced by the Postal Commemorative Society (PCS). The binder has 41 replicas of historic U.S. stamps that are crafted with a thin layer of 22kt gold foil, plus 41 matching first-day-of-issue real USPS postage stamps with the same design. Each of the 41 profiled stamps also has a card that lists the First Day of Issue, First Day City, Stamp Designer, and background information about the stamp. Comes in a brown leatherette personalized binder. The Postal Commemorative Society was a direct mail subscription service in the United States (circa 1980s through the early 2000s). The photos only show some examples of what is in the binder. The 41 gold replica stamps and 41 matching first issue stamps include the following people and subjects: Orchids (2), Hawaii Statehood, National Archives, Summer Olympic Games (4), Louisiana World Exposition, Health Research, Douglas Fairbanks, Jim Thorpe, John McCormack, St Lawrence Seaway, Preserving Wetlands, Roanoke Voyages, Herman Melville, Horace Moses, Forest Fire Prevention, Roberto Clemente, Dogs (4), Crime Prevention, Family Unity, Eleanor Roosevelt, A Nation of Readers, Hispanic Americans, Vienam Veterans Memorial, Jerome Kern, Abraham Baldwin, Alden Partridge, Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, Mary McLeod Bethune, Grenville Clark, Sinclair Lewis, and Folk Art Series (4). Note: first page has a tear in plastic sleeve. Dimensions: Binder is approximately 11 x 9 x 3.5 inches.
