The vessel features decorative bands in relief, such as stylized floral motifs or cherub heads, and includes handles on the sides.

The mortar may bears Latin inscriptions along the rim, such as &#34;LEEFTE VERWINT AL DINCK&#34; (Life conquers all things), a common phrase on Dutch-style mortars.
