1947 2 Shillings This is a 1947 British Two Shillings coin, also known as a Florin. This coin was minted by The Royal Mint in the United Kingdom. Key Facts Denomination: Two Shillings (one-tenth of a Pound). Composition: It is made of cupro-nickel (copper and nickel). 1946 was the last year these coins contained silver. The Design: The reverse features a crowned rose surrounded by a thistle (Scotland), a shamrock (Ireland), and a leek (Wales). The Inscription: It includes "IND: IMP," which stands for Indiae Imperator (Emperor of India). This title was removed in 1949 following India's independence.
