Lot #155: Vintage Carved Wooden Bear Marked “CPO” Occupied Japan

Starting bidding

$1.00

Time Remaining:

Bidding starts in 0d 1h 10m

This is a classic Japanese Kibori Kuma (wood-carving bear), a traditional folk craft famously originating from Hokkaido, Japan. Marked “CPO” on the bottom of one foot. The Central Purchasing Office was established by the American military command to procure high-quality Japanese goods for sale exclusively at military Post Exchanges (PX) and commissaries to US service members and their families. Items stamped "CPO" or "Made in Occupied Japan" are highly sought after by collectors because they provide a definitive, narrow historical window of manufacture. In good, vintage condition. 11” long. Bring packing material. Pickup category timeslot {A}
