Lot #164: Antique Corona Typewriter “Personal Writing Machine”

This is a historic Corona No. 3 Folding Portable Typewriter, manufactured by the Corona Typewriter Company, Inc. of Groton, New York. This is an authentic early-production machine, likely dating between 1914 and 1922. The Corona 3 is widely considered one of the most iconic, ingenious typewriter designs in history. It features a unique folding carriage that flips forward over the keys to drastically reduce its footprint for travel, making it the premier choice of World War I correspondents, journalists, and legendary authors like Ernest Hemingway and Agatha Christie. Tested and working smoothly, though the ribbon is a bit dry. The carrying case has some issues such a split joints and tape (shown).
