While cleaning out an estate sale, I found in a box these Cold War Era Military & Family Memorabilia Archive. I am not an appraiser or collector, but with a little research, I was able to determine that the lot consists of – Historical Military Ephemera • "The Stars and Stripes" Newspaper Clips (April 1953): Significant clippings featuring the retirement of Lt. Gen. Manton S. Eddy, commander-in-chief of USAREUR (United States Army Europe), and the arrival of Lt. Gen. Charles L. Bolte. • Military Unit Photography: Includes a large-format panoramic-style group photo of an Army platoon in field gear, along with several smaller candid shots of "Honor Guard" squads and military reviews at USAREUR Headquarters. • USNS General Alexander M. Patch (T-AP-122) Documentation: A detailed typewritten history and specification sheet for this Barrett-class transport ship, which was used extensively for transporting troops and families to Europe during the Cold War. Photographic Archive & Scrapbook • Army Life Scrapbook: A black-page album containing original silver gelatin prints with typed captions such as "Platoon passing in review," "Band finishing turn," and "Marching off field." • Professional Portraits: Includes a formal family portrait from The Bon Marché Studio (Seattle) and a studio portrait from Mount Vernon, Wash. • School History: A classic 1957 class photo labeled "Madison 1957," capturing a snapshot of American domestic life during the era. The condition of the lot exhibits vintage age and wear. This lot would be an excellent addition to a military collector’s collection of military memorabilia, military historian or or those interested in the post-WWII occupation of Germany.
