Original Vintage WWII Canadian Interned Dissident Mail #4 This historical document is a piece of internment mail sent by a civilian internee in Canada during World War II. Item Description Sender: J. H., identified by his prisoner number P/W 799. Date: January 20, 1941. Censorship Markings: Features a circular red "CENSORED" stamp from the Department of National Defence, Canada, typically used at internment camps like Camp 33 (Petawawa) or Camp 20 (Ajax). Content: Written in French, the letter is addressed to a "dear friend" (cher ami). H. expresses gratitude for a Christmas package, mentions being ill during the holidays, and discusses personal needs, including a strict diet and a request for fruit juice and sardines. Historical Value This item has high historical significance as primary evidence of Canada's wartime policies under the War Measures Act. During WWII, Canada interned over 30,000 "enemy aliens," including German, Italian, Japanese Canadians, as well as Canadian political dissidents and refugees. These letters provide a very rare insight into the daily lives, health, and emotional states of those detained without trial, often for years. This document, of great historical value, will be the pride of any discerning collector. All information provided herein is considered accurate. It is the buyer's responsibility to verify its accurateness. As shown and as is. The pictures are part of the description. Pickup category timeslot {A}
