2008 Canadian 10-dollar banknote This is a Canadian ten-dollar note from the Canadian Journey Series. This specific paper-based series was first introduced in January 2001 and remained in circulation until it was succeeded by the polymer "Frontier" series starting in 2011. Key Features Portrait: The front features Sir John A. Macdonald, Canada’s first prime minister (1867–1873 and 1878–1891). Design: Beside the portrait is a vignette of the Library of Parliament. Security: This series introduced enhanced security features such as raised ink on the portrait and large "10" denominations, as well as a holographic metallic strip on later "updated" versions of the note. Theme: The theme of this banknote is Remembrance and Peacekeeping. Additional Information Signatures: The signatures on the bottom right of your note belong to W.P. Jenkins (Deputy Governor) and M.J. Carney (Governor). Tactile Feature: It was the first series to include tactile features (raised dots) to help people with visual impairments identify different denominations. Reverse Side: The back features imagery related to Canadian veterans and peacekeeping, including lines from John McCrae's poem, "In Flanders Fields".
