Lot #12: Hand Blown Asymmetrical Vase

Starting bidding

$1.00

Time Remaining:

Bidding starts in 0d 2h 23m

Hand Blown Asymmetrical Vase • This is a "heavy-walled" vessel which suggests it was designed to have "optical depth," where the glass acts like a lens for the colours inside. • There is a "tropical" palette" with vibrant chartreuse, a sunny yellow, and a contrasting "aqua" blue. • Because of the unpolished base, and no signature this was most likely made in Eastern Europe or China. • This specific technique of marbling different colors to imitate semi-precious stones (like agate or chalcedony) is historically known as the Calcedonio style in Murano glassmaking. • In excellent condition, no cracks, breaks or chips.
