Large Vintage Spanish Faience Jug by Gregorio Molero • Gregorio Molero (G.M.): Molero is a recognized artist in Spanish pottery, associated with Puente del Arzobispo or Talavera de la Reina of Puente del Arzobispo (Toledo). • Spanish faience jug also called a "Birnkrug" or pear-shaped jug. • This is a tin-glazed earthenware, a pottery tradition that dates back centuries in Spain. • The figure on your jug appears to be a fisherman or labourer carrying a basket and net. In Spanish folk art, such "scenes of daily life". • This jug is very consistent with mid-20th-century 1950's-1970's Spanish revival pottery. • In very good condition, no cracks or breaks, but does have one chip on the lip.
