Graeme Allemeersch - Square Majolica Flower Dish • Graeme Allemeersch (1954 - 2012). • Graeme was one of the early proponents of the earthenware-majolica practice in BC. • Colorful & decorated, majolica pottery was "new" in the 1980's, and Graeme was the first in BC to produce this. • Influenced and trained by the famed Walter Ostom at NSCAD, Graeme was one of his students who brought this practice to BC, and around Canada. • He set up his studio in Trail, BC. • Hand formed initially from a home made mold, and hand worked to the finish the redware clay form. Finally decorated in a freeform style with sgraffito lines for the details, and the glaze applied. • This was fired in an electric kiln to con e 03 to 05. • In excellent condition, no cracks, breaks, or chips.
