• While this is in the Murano style of glass
blown pieces, and does resemble
Rossini, Empoli, and Archimede Seguso
in the ribbing, the colour, and the weight,
there is no comparison with the base of
this vase, so this was not made in Italy.
• Similarly the base shows a distinct
pontil and interesting &#34;pebbly&#34; foot, so
not Chinese either, and I think it will
remain a &#34;mystery&#34;
• The exterior is ribbed, textured and is
visually optical.
• The top lip has nine &#34;curved petals&#34;
and the glass itself many interior bubbles
which add to the overall look.
• In excellent condition, no cracks,

• I have not been able to &#34;pin down&#34; the
exact maker of this vase. It could be
Fostoria, Akro Agate, or Imperial Glass?
• The swirled blue and white pattern is
commonly referred to as slag glass or
marbled milk glass.
• This two-part mold was manufactured
during the 1930&#39;s or 1940&#39;s.
• Style: This is a swung vase, created by
swinging a hot glass vessel in a circle to
lengthen it, which results in its tall,
slender form and &#34;stretched&#34; look.
• Rim Detail: The top features a scalloped
rim adorned with small glass beads,
often called a crimped edge.
• In very good condition, no cracks,

Blue &#38; White Marbled Glass Swung Vase

Orrefors &#34;Bird on a Branch&#34; Blown
Glass Vase
• The company was founded in 1898 in
Smäland, Sweden. They started art
glass between (1913-1939). Post-WWII,
Orrefors became a leader in creativity,
known for &#34;frozen liquid&#34; designs.
• The motif is officially called the &#34;Bird on
a Branch&#34; or &#34;Lovebirds&#34; design,
although these were all individually
etched, so each is unique.
• There are no markings of any kind on
the base or around the edge, this was
because many Orrefors pieces were
originally identified only by a gold or red
foil sticker. Once washed or used, these
labels frequently fell off, leaving the glass
itself unmarked. &#34;Bird on a Branch&#34; motif match
cataloged Orrefors designs from the
1940&#39;s-1960&#39;S.

Turquoise Blue &#34;Bullicante&#34; Drinking
Vessel
• There is no signature on this glass, so
have not been able to find out who the
maker might be.
• This is a hand blown glass, with
bullicante (controlled bubble) technique,
which is created by the glassblower by
first blowing molten glass into a spiked
metal mold. These spikes create
indentations that trap air when a second
outer layer of clear glass is added.
• There is a pontil mark that has been fire
polished.
• Note the size of the &#34;bubbles&#34; changes
from small to large from the base to the
lip, showing how the glass blower
&#34;stretched&#34; the molten glass.
• In excellent condition, no cracks,

• I have not been able to &#34;pin down&#34; the
maker of this piece. It was possibly made
by Westmoreland in the States, or
Barolac in the Czech Republic.
• Both companies made yellow satin
frosted birds between 1960 and 1980.
However, I have found nor equivalent
forms to match.
• I believe that Selenium or Silver Oxide
was used in the glass formation to create
this soft yellow colour. It is unusual to
find in this frosted example.
• The design has an &#34;Art Deco&#34; feel, and
a streamlined, stylized silhouette.

• These hand-blown glass goblets have a
pink-to-clear gradient called cranberry or
ombre with a textured spiked design at
the base of the bowl.
• Both goblets show a distinct pontil
mark with the etched initials of “ML&#34; &#34;MB&#34; or &#34;MLS&#34;.
• Both in excellent condition, no cracks,

• Krosno is a world-renowned glassworks
in southeastern Poland, where they have
been perfecting the art of glassmaking
since 1923.
1) Large Clear Vase: 1970&#39;s - 1980&#39;s
• This was Krosno&#39;s &#34;golden era&#34; for
heavy art glass. During this time, they
produced substantial, hand-blown
pieces. This vase&#39;s organic, irregular rim
was a common feature of this period&#39;s
handcrafted production.
• This piece is not signed as they used
paper labels, but the highly polished
base is typical of their work.
• In excellent condition. no cracks or
breaks, but one tiny chip on the base.
Tall Clear Vase:

Murano Six-Sided Art Glass Vase
• The company was established in 1934
by Benjamin Mandruzzato. The 2nd & 3rd
Generations (Luigi & Gianfranco) focused
on art glass, ornaments, and vases. In
the 1960&#39;s, they collaborated with Pablo
Picasso, Marc Chagall, and Max Ernst.
• Alessandro Mandruzzato was highly
renowned for these geometric, cold-cut
faceted vases produced throughout the
1960&#39;s and 1970&#39;s.
• This is a cased glass or &#34;Sommerso&#34;
technique, where a rich, dark amber core
is submerged within a thick layer of clear,
hand-polished crystal.
• The base has several scratches, which
also reflects the age and &#34;love&#34; of this
small vase.
• In good condition, no cracks, breaks,
but there are 2 chips on the rim, and a

• Michael Donaldson has been blowing
glass since 1991. He was married to the
late glass artist Susan Glass, and
together with their son, they operated
The Glass Kingdom Studio is located in
Seattle, Wash.
• Both these pieces are dated
(5-14-2001), and inscribed on labels at
the back.
• Donaldson was deeply involved with
the Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle, a
renowned institution for glass education.
He both practiced his craft and exhibited
his work there during the early 2000&#39;s.
• His work is known for its &#34;free-form&#34;
organic shapes, often featuring the
vibrant swirls of color seen in your piece.
• Both flowers have five &#34;pulled&#34; petals
made of mixed varied colours. While the
&#34;centres&#34; vary slightly in style they are
also &#34;pulled&#34; glass forms.
• The &#34;orange flower is in perfect

• This is a &#34;demonstration piece&#34; that
various glass blowers in the different
furnaces in Murano show when tourists
visit a factory.
• The glass blower would pull a fresh
gather off the end of a punty to show
how different animals could be formed.
• Flame-worked pieces often don&#39;t have
as obvious of tooling marks due to the
fact they can simply be stuck into the
flame and melted away.
• Whereas the small quick demonstration
animals made from the furnace don&#39;t get
reheated and features like the cut mark
on the tail where it&#39;s removed from the
punty tend to show the rough tooling.

smoky grey/brown glass.

in Medicine Hat, Alberta operated from
1950 to 1988, and specialized in hand-

• The company was founded in 1950 by
J.H. Yuill, who purchased equipment
from the Glass Guild of Canada to
convert the Alberta Potteries Ltd. plant in
Redcliff to glass production.
• This bowl is a classic example of their
&#34;pulled&#34; or &#34;free-form&#34; style.
• This piece has both styles of the gold
foil stickers; the gold on green maple
leaf, and the silver on black sticker.
• The &#34;Hand Made in Canada&#34; maple leaf
sticker was a common feature on pieces
from the 1950&#39;s and 1960&#39;s.

• The factory closed on June 13, 1955.
Its molds were sold to companies like

• There is a scalloped or &#34;fan&#34; edge that
gives the basket fluted appearance.
• The base has a molded starburst
pattern, a design of Duncan & Miller from
the 1920&#39;s to the 1940&#39;s.
• The etching on the vase is known as a
&#34;Gray Cut&#34; or &#34;Matte&#34; etching. Gray cuts
are left unpolished after the design is
ground into the glass, giving the flowers
their soft, frosty, and opaque
appearance.

• I believe R. Summers is a hobbyist
studio carver possibly from BC.
• In the mid-1980&#39;s carvers shifted from
creating &#34;working&#34; decoys to creating
finely detailed, unpainted wood-grain
pieces meant for display or gallery sales.
• Based on the head profile, the sloping
forehead, and the flat, broad shape of the
bill, this carving represents a female
Puddle Duck- most likely a Hen Mallard,
Hen Gadwall, or Hen Pintail.
• The use of inset black glass optical
eyes, rather than painted or carved eyes
indicates a premium decorative piece.
• The incredibly fine, uniform carved lines
on the head and neck and body are the
result of meticulous burning or texturing.
• The overlapping wingtip feathers are
added wood relief-carved to create a 3-
dimensional effect where the wings rest
over the lower back.
• In very good condition for age, no
breaks, cracks, but the tip of one wing
feather is chipped. View images.
