Lot #162: Japanese Novelty "Koi Fish" Vase

Starting bidding

$1.00

Time Remaining:

Bidding starts in 0d 3h 22m

Japanese Novelty "Koi Fish" Vase • The base is unmarked, however the "foot rim" is unglazed, yet the base is glazed which points to a Japanese make, dating between the 1970's-1990's. • The soft, monochromatic pale green celadon glaze is consistent with Japanese porcelain styles. • This vase was made via slip-cast construction. The smooth, uniform width of the walls, and the way the detailed exterior scales also point to this being made in Japan. • In Japanese culture, the koi fish (or Nishikigoi) is a revered symbol of resilience, strength, and personal growth. Its significance is rooted in ancient legends and traditional ceremonies • In excellent condition, no cracks, breaks, or chips. View Images. • 10.5 cm. x 13 cm. 8 cm.
