Two rare and powerful original mid-century expressionist oil painting by listed Canadian artist Harold H. Elliott (1890–1968). 1. (Warm Tones): Housed in its original heavy-stacked MCM gilt gallery wood frame complete with a classic linen inner liner. 17" x 20" 2. (Green Sky): Housed in a gorgeous, thick vintage gold gilt frame decorated with a classic repeating acanthus leaf pattern. 22" x 25" Medium: Original oil paintings on board. Artist: Harold H. Elliott (Canadian, 1890–1968). The reverse of the frames features an important, intact historical gallery label written and signed by G.H. Tyler, artist, critic, and former Curator of the Vancouver Art Gallery. The label provides a comprehensive biographical note on Elliott, detailing his prairie roots, his creative shift from direct nature to internal memory, and his alternative family pseudonym, "Van Volkingburgh".
