Although printing with woodcuts has fallen out of fashion in recent years, it is the earliest form of printmaking, and a discipline that relies on the skill of the artist with their etching knife and wood-block. Through relief printmaking, the artist demonstrates his dexterity as he carves his image out of the wood or linoleum block.

She has taught drawing and printmaking at several universities and received an award from the National Endowment Arts. Born in Kent in 1939, Michael Challenger is a versatile artist known for his &#34;hallucinatory&#34; geometric paintings, sculptures, and prints. During the 1960s and &#39;70s, he gained international acclaim for works that blended rigorous formal precision with optical illusions and vibrant chromatic fields.
