Lot #104: Antique Chilean Model 1890 Cavalry Trooper Saber

- An antique Chilean Model 1890 Cavalry Trooper Sabre with accompanying scabbard. - Known for its slender T-shaped thrusting blade, ebonite grip, and enveloping "birdcage" guard, this sword was commissioned by the government of Chile for production by the French Manufacture d'armes de Châtellerault in partnership with Jacob Holtzer. - The spine is inscribed near the hilt with the manufacturer name and the initials "JH". French Military inspection stamps found on the ricasso include the Jacob Holtzer diamond stamp, a "B" stamp indicating inspection by M. Brenier, and a "C" stamp indicating inspection by Captain C. Cambonne. On the reverse side of the ricasso, there is a stamp of the Chilean coat of arms. - Wear is consistent with age and use. This blade has been previously oiled, but does demonstrate some patina development. There are multiple small knicks in the blade edge, consistent with practical use.
