- An antique British Pattern 1854 Canadian Militia infantry officer's "levée" dress sword - Production window circa 1855-1879 - Provided by the premium outfitter Firmin & Sons, Birmingham - Forged by Robert Mole & Sons, Birmingham. Evidenced by the inscription "Warranted to cut wrought iron" on the spine. - Features a 32" single-edged steel blade decorated throughout with acid-etched designs, including a central design of a beaver with the words "CANADA" and "MILITIA" - Gilded brass "Gothic" half-basket guard featuring Queen Victoria's "VR" royal cypher. Backed by an ebonite liner. - Wood-core grip wrapped in textured shagreen bound with wire. - Brown and gold woven bullion fabric sword knot and full-dress scabbard. - Wear is consistent with age and use.
