- An authentic, large-format mid-Victorian steel engraving titled Dawn Revealing the New World to Columbus. - This piece bears the full, prestigious publication line in the lower margin: engraved by W.H. Egleton after the original masterpiece by Sir George Harvey, and officially published "August 1, 1856 by Henry Graves & Company, Printsellers to Her Majesty, 6 Pall Mall, London." The text notes the original painting was held in the National Collection, Edinburgh. - Framed in a heavy, wide antique mahogany-toned wooden frame featuring a gold-gilded inner lip, print behind glass - The image plate remains strong with crisp line definition and excellent dark contrast. The wide paper margins show natural age-toning and moderate foxing spots consistent with 1850s paper stock. - There is a small puncture in the upper left paper margin but does not encroach onto the main image, sold as is - Period wooden frame has minor surface scuffs and edge wear appropriate to its age, preserving its antique character.
