Circa 1950&#39;s Model M1410 Dazor Articulating Floor Industrial Magnifier Lamp. All-metal construction, and it still has its original circular bulb intact…and it works great! The magnifier is clear - no nicks, chips or cracks…this piece is truly in perfect condition! It measures 42” from base plate to first connector. The middle arm measures an additional 18” in length, and the top arm measures 12” long. It is also HEAVY, about 40 pounds. This item has some aging here and there, proper to its age and use. Normal wear and tear.

In 1938, Harry Dazor teamed with Washington University professor Albert Perbal to create a company that would manufacture lamps. He came up with the idea for the &#34; floating arm&#34; portable light, and the company specialized in task lights. Initially, Dazor lights were used as table lamps. It wasn&#39;t until the outbreak of WWII that Dazor lamps became famous for high efficiency and lower costs. The government found Dazor lamps helped to conserve energy and were cheaper than costly overhead lighting. They were impressed and replaced overhead lighting with Dazor energy-efficient lights, creating rapid growth for Dazor’s company. Dazor also became the first fluorescent lamp manufacturer to combine the technology of portable task light with fluorescent light bulbs. Displayed at the 1937 World&#39;s Fair by General Electric, the lamp quickly became popular among draftsmen and architects who found light offered better visibility than traditional incandescent.

Douglas A. Fales (1929–2024) was a Canadian painter and illustrator celebrated for his rustic landscapes of Eastern Ontario and historical portraits of Indigenous peoples. He is known for capturing rural Canadian life, Montreal cityscapes, and maritime scenes using oils and pastels. Fales began his formal training in 1943 at the Bishop Street studio of Sherriff Scott. After a lengthy career spanning four decades as a commercial illustrator for Montreal department stores, he dedicated his later life entirely to fine arts. His work is firmly rooted in Canadian heritage, featuring rural settings in Glengarry County, the Gatineau, and the East Coast. Fales is particularly renowned for his detailed pastel and oil portraits of historical Indigenous chiefs and figures, such as Running Rabbit and Medicine Crow.

This vintage oversized art plate features stunning artwork of five Japanese geisha women in a boat. The girls are surrounded by nature, such as a cherry blossom tree. Each girl is doing something different. They are dressed in traditional Japanese clothing, which adds to the overall historical feel of this art. All over the platter are raised, hand-painted moriage details, like on the border, which is decorated with tiny colourful dots all over, creating a millefleur-style design. The girls and the scenery also have such details, along with embellishments in gold. The scalloped border of the frame has beautiful scrolled leaf trim in gold, which adds a very elegant touch. Many of these details are dimensional, so when you touch the surface, you&#39;ll feel the hand-painted work that went into creating this stunning art plate.

Abraham Ortelius&#39;s ‘Theatrum Orbis Terrarum’ is widely considered the first modern world atlas, originally published in 1570. Ortelius gathered and selected the maps which he believed represented the best available cartographic knowledge of his day, which he then presented in a single volume, duly credited and finely engraved in a consistent style, with explanatory text. The Theatrum was highly decorative and hugely popular amongst the wealthy and educated, running into over forty editions in Latin and other major European languages.

This locket is quite beautiful, and it looks like a lot of craftsmanship went into its design. The locket is oval and marked. The inside could be used as a pill box or for tiny trinkets, a lock of hair, etc. The lid hinges open super smoothly by allowing the center part of the loop to move back and forth. The front has intricate metal designs and a deep red, faceted stone/ruby?/ in the center with gold-toned details on the top and bottom. 
The metal has been left unpolished, and the locket measures about 1.25 inches long, including the loop.
Chain marked 925 Italy. Very good condition.

Henry Housier (French, 1905-) was born in 1905 in Lyon, France. He began his art studies at a local painting school and later moved to Paris, where he continued his art education at the Académie des Beaux-Arts (Academy of Fine Arts). Housier is primarily known for his colourful Parisian cityscapes & street scenes, which feature the daily life and people of Paris, cafés & outdoor restaurants, but is also known for his landscapes, marine scenes, and lake & coastal scenes from the upper Italian regions and floral still life, which he often mastered in perfect abstraction. He travelled extensively and also lived in Italy and Holland for a time, all the while continuing to develop his painting skills and furthering his artistic career. He exhibited in numerous shows in Paris, Rome and Vienna.
