(San Leandro, CA) Mechanism Manufacturer: Sankyo (Stamped on Governor) Origin: Made in Japan Tune: "Für Elise" (Beethoven) Material: Transparent Clear Acrylic / Lucite & Brass-Toned Hardware Dimensions: Approx. 4" x 3" x 4.5" Condition: Vintage, Pre-owned, Fully Operational Item Description Up for auction is a beautiful, fully functional vintage 1970s/1980s clear lucite baby grand piano music box. Imprinted by the Westland Co. (San Leandro, CA), this collectible piece features a premium, precision mechanical clockwork movement engineered in Japan by the legendary Sankyo Co. (Japanese patent stamp: J.P. 1037152). The clear acrylic shell provides a fascinating, crystal-clear view of the intricate mechanical gears, rotating pinned cylinder, and musical comb as it plays. The lid is elegantly detailed with vintage frosted white and gold-toned musical staff notes and lines. Condition Details Mechanics: FULLY WORKING! The winding key turns smoothly, the centrifugal governor regulates the speed perfectly, and the movement plays Beethoven's classic "Für Elise" with a clear, delightful acoustic tone. Cosmetics: In good vintage condition. The clear lucite housing shows minor surface scuffs/dust consistent with age, but has no major cracks or structural damage. The three brass-toned metal legs and the original butterfly wind-up key are securely intact.
