Vintage 2.5" Satsuma-Style Moriage Miniature Vase – Made in Occupied Japan (1945–1952) Up for auction is a charming piece of mid-century ceramic history: a Vintage Japanese Satsuma-style Moriage miniature bud vase. Standing at exactly 2.5 inches tall, this pocket-sized collectible was manufactured for the Western export market immediately following WWII. The front features a beautifully hand-painted portrait of a traditional Japanese figure—often identified by collectors as a Buddhist Immortal or Kannon—framed by a golden halo. The face is delicately detailed, accented by vibrant blue, yellow, and rust-orange glazes, and finished with a striking gilded gold top rim. Key Features & Specifications Origin: Made in Occupied Japan (Stamped on base) Production Era: Circa 1945–1952 Technique: Traditional Moriage (features raised, three-dimensional slip-piping outlining the halo, clothing, and details) Accents: Distinct gilded gold trim along the top rim and framing the central portrait. Dimensions: Approx. 2.5" Height Markings: Features the authentic, hand-applied "MADE IN OCCUPIED JAPAN" export stamp in red ink on the unglazed foot rim. Condition Report Overall: Very Good vintage condition, consistent with age and manufacturing style. Details: The hand-painted portrait and moriage textures remain bright and intact. Wear: Shows minor, typical paint wear and slight fading along the delicate gold rim, alongside expected factory ink smudging on the underside stamp—both very common for mass-export porcelain of this era. No major cracks, repairs, or structural chips. Nearest intersection Yonge Street and Steeles Avenue Pickup category timeslot {A}
