Vintage Mid-Century Modern Danish Studio Pottery Vase – Inge-Lise Eder Artist: Inge-Lise Eder (Danish, b. 1946) Studio/Origin: Vejle / Sejrup, Denmark (Associated with "Lise Keramik") Period: Circa 1970s Material: Glazed Stoneware / Studio Pottery Dimensions: Approximately 5" Height x 3" Diameter Design & Aesthetic This exceptional piece of Scandinavian studio pottery perfectly encapsulates the Earth-tone aesthetic of the Mid-Century Modern movement. The vase features a high-gloss, deep chocolate brown base glaze. It is meticulously decorated by hand with traditional geometric slip-trailed patterns, featuring warm ochre triangular bands and striking white dot accents. The contrast between the dark body and the light-colored, unglazed rim ring creates a stunning visual anchor. Artist Biography Inge-Lise Eder is a highly regarded Danish ceramicist who established her independent studio in Vejle in 1967. She later relocated her practice to Sejrup Gl. Skole, partnering with Carl Georg Eder-Jensen under the collective studio name "Lise Keramik". Active in pottery from 1967 through the late 1990s, Eder’s work is highly sought after for its distinct use of native Danish clay and rhythmic, abstract geometric ornamentation. Following a turn-of-the-century pivot to oil painting, her ceramic works have become increasingly scarce on the secondary market. Condition Report Overall: Very Good vintage condition with excellent glaze stability and no widespread crazing. Disclosures: Features a minor, shallow flea-bite chip/glaze irregularity on the top outer edge of the rim (visible upon close inspection; see macro photographs). This minor structural flaw is common for utilitarian studio ware of this era and has been factored into the opening bid.
